MAN ARRESTED OVER COWES WOMAN’S ‘MURDER’ RELEASED – BUT INVESTIGATIONS CONTINUE

A man arrested on suspicion of murdering a Cowes mother has been released with no further action to be taken – but he remains under investigation for controlling or coercive behaviour. It was earlier today (Saturday) that Island Echo reported that a murder investigation had been launched by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary following the death of a 55-year-old woman from Cowes. It was on Thursday 4th April that the local woman died at St Mary’s Hospital in Newport, in circumstances that aroused suspicion. Officers began door to door enquiries in the vicinity of Newport Road in Cowes on Friday afternoon, with their suspect – a 51-year-old man from Shanklin – arrested this morning after a search for him. He has now been released with no further action to be taken in relation to the arrest on suspicion of murder. However, he is now on conditional bail until Saturday 13th July for the offence of engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship.
