A man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage after a Police car was the target of an attack outside St Mary’s Hospital this morning (Saturday).
Officers were making enquiries at the hospital in Newport when NHS staff saw an individual jumping up and down on the roof and bonnet of a Police car, as well as spitting at it.
With the incident unfolding in front of them officers moved to make a swift arrest, detaining a man on suspicion of criminal damage. He remains in custody at this time.
The vehicle in question has now been taken off the road whilst it is repaired and cleaned.
UPDATE SUNDAY – 24-year-old Kieran Thompson of High Park Square, Ryde has been charged with criminal damage.
He will appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court at a later date.

Mary, you are very quick to jump to conclusions. Why was he doing this? He must have been very angry. Maybe he was stopped from seeing a loved one that was very ill and could possibly die! Yes what he did was wrong, but to every action there is a reaction.

They should receive a letter informing them if they cause anymore antisocial behaviour and get into trouble with the police they will be “evicted” from the IOW. That doesn’t solve anything what so ever, that’s just moving the problem along. They should deal with this in a way where everyone benefits and feel safe.
The council get paid by large Cities to take residents off their hands. Sadly we have also many here dealing in drugs, getting paid to have children along with a free home for life, so, the lower classes grow ever more in numbers.
Time to end payment for having children, up the minimum wage instead and get people to do more than 20 hours per week work to claim, and then dealing and growing drugs in lofts and garages to make thousands per year.
