A 44-year-old man from Bognor Regis has been arrested on suspicion of failing to provide after a car ended up on its roof in Sandown last night (Tuesday).
As previously reported by Island Echo, Police were called at 21:45 to a report of a car colliding with a parked car on Perowne Way.
At the scene a Ford Fiesta collided with a Nissan Juke. As a result of the impact, the Fiesta then spun and rolled onto its roof.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a 44-year-old man from Bognor Regis was arrested on suspicion of failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
He has been released under investigation while further enquiries continue.

Another wanker …at lease he’s off the road. Why be released then?
I may be missing the obvious, if he did not provide a specimen how is “suspected he did not”
One of two choices he did or he didn’t.
It’s suspicion until proven, the offence being a failure to provide. That may be a slap on the wrist, but without it they can’t prove he’d been drinking, which carries a stiffer penalty.
It still requires the individual to admit a charge of failing to supply a specimen or be convicted following trial. But you are correct that he would be arrested and then charged with failing to supply, not suspicion of… otherwise everyting would be a “suspicion” until the charge was admitted or a conviction had been secured. I fear this is the usual sloppy reporting and failure of editors to correct that we have become accustomed to here.
