MALE NICKED BY POLICE AFTER SEARCH FOLLOWING ASSAULT ON WOMAN IN VENTNOR

A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of intentional strangulation as part of investigations into the assault of a woman in Ventnor this morning (Tuesday). Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary was called at 08:26 to reports that a man had assaulted a woman in Albert Street, damaging her phone. Numerous resources descended on Ventnor Town and spent more than 2 hours searching the area. It’s been confirmed that those efforts have led to the arrest of a 31-year-old man from Ventnor. He has been detained and taken into custody on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, using violence to secure entry to a premises, criminal damage and intentional strangulation. The suspect remains in custody at this time.
