2 mainland men were arrested as they tried to flee the Isle of Wight last night (Thursday) following an alleged serious assault in Newport, which has left a 20-year-old man with a broken jaw and eye socket.
Police were called at just gone 19:00 yesterday evening to reports of an assault in St Thomas’ Square, Newport.
Officers arrived on scene to find a 20-year-old male in an unconscious state.
He was rushed to St Mary’s Hospital to be treated for a broken jaw and eye socket. He remains in a serious but stable condition.
Just 2 hours after the incident, Police swooped on 2 males at Wightlink’s car ferry terminal in Fishbourne.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a pair of 34-year-old men from Havant were arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. Both remain in custody at this time.
Furthermore, 1 of the men has also been arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled Class B drug.
