Bembridge RNLI Lifeboat was launched at the request of Solent Coastguard at 11:47 this morning (Wednesday) to assist a 23ft angling boat with 3 crew onboard that had broken down with an overheated engine approx 11 nautical miles South East of St Catherine’s Point.
The ‘Frank and Anne Wilkinson’ relief All Weather Lifeboat (ALB) reached ‘Evenless’ at around 12:28. Having quickly established that a local repair was not possible, Evenless was towed back to her home port of Portsmouth where she was berthed alongside in Gosport Marina by 14:15.
Bembridge’s volunteer crew and relief lifeboat then returned to Bembridge and recovered by 15:00.
