An independent Isle of Wight councillor of many years will need to defeat candidates from Reform UK and the Conservatives for another term at County Hall.
Cllr Paul Andrew Fuller, who represents Cowes West and Gurnard as part of the Alliance group, has two rivals in the Isle of Wight Council elections: Phil Sanders (Local Conservatives) and Sue Whitewood (Reform UK).
The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) invited 100-word pitches and photos from candidates, either directly or through parties or groups.

Paul Andrew Fuller (incumbent ward councillor)
I was first elected as an Independent Isle of Wight councillor in 1995, and have represented Cowes West and Gurnard since 2009.
As Isle of Wight Councillor, I’ve held key positions giving residents support in planning, the environment, coastal protection, flooding, transport, waste, children’s services and public protection.
Outside the IW Council, I serve Northwood, Gurnard and Cowes Parish/Town Councils, am Trustee of the Footprint Trust and magistrate. I Chair the Island’s Local Access Forum and serve as Chair of regional fisheries agency Southern IFCA.
As your Councillor, I’m committed to being accessible, hardworking, transparent always putting Cowes and Gurnard first.

I was born on the Isle of Wight and have lived and worked here all my life, having spent ten happy years raising my sons in this area.
My working background is in accounts and office administration, so I have a professional ‘eye for detail’.
I would be honoured to receive your vote and will assure you I will represent you to the best of my ability within the Isle of Wight Council.
