Tuesday (1st July) saw a perfect Summer’s afternoon in Merstone as 3 Isle of Wight producers came together to host a charity cream tea, raising over £500 in support of Cancer Research.
The event, held at Venners in Merstone, brought the community together to enjoy freshly baked scones from Calbourne Classics, locally sourced Guernsey clotted cream from Briddlesford and delicious strawberry jam provided by The Island Jam Company.
Ticket sales by Calbourne Classics, for the cream teas, and generous donations from attendees helped achieve the fundraising total.
Louise Hart, Partner at Calbourne Classics, has said:
“Cancer Research carry out vital work to improve outcomes for those living with cancer, including people with primary diagnoses.
“Like so many others, our family has been deeply affected by cancer, and we felt strongly about giving back to a cause that means so much to us.”
A special thanks has been extended to the Baird family, Coastal Inns and Taverns, and Michelle Walton Photography for their invaluable contributions to the success of the event.
