Day Rutherford from Ryde has decided to embark on an epic challenge to raise funds for Mountbatten Hospice.
After 2 previous successful challenges, The English Channel 21 miles and Hadrian’s Wall 90 miles, Day has decided to end the year by taking part in another challenge which will be his biggest walking yet and he is already day 6 of his trek.
His aim is to walk the length of the country from Lands End to John O’Groats by Christmas – a whopping 1,083 Miles. It works out to be 10 miles a day for 15 weeks.
Day Rutherford says:
“It’s something I’m not overly prepared for but throwing myself into it none the less.”
The Islander is raising much-needed funds for the Mountbatten Hospice here on the Isle of Wight.
Day continues:
“We all have a connection to the Hospice, whether we have needed the service ourselves or have had a family member in need of the service.”
