Ryde Town Hall – a once prominent local landmark in the East Wight – has been listed for sale with a guide price of £650,000.
Built back in 1831, the Grade-II listed on Lind Street in the town, has been closed since 2010.
Measuring just under 17,000ft, the former municipal building and theatre was close to being sold to Ryde Town Hall Trust back in 2024, however a purchase fee couldn’t be agreed.
During its 15-year vacany, Ryde Town Hall has fallen into a state of disrepair and requires, as the sales listing suggests, ‘complete refurbishment’.
Break-ins and fires have blighted the buildings recent history, many of which have been reported on Island Echo.
Action has been taken by the Isle of Wight Council’s Enforcement Team on several occasions in attempts to stop further damage occurring.

Excellent potential for redevelopment (STP) — suitable for conversion to apartments, boutique hotel, leisure venue or mixed-use scheme. lol i cant see the council allowing that as that why its been left for so long.

Have Savills actually been to Ryde? They describe the old town hall as being in Queens Road! Have they confused it with All Saints church?
What happened to all the grandiose plans when it was sold a few years ago and the young person was going to do marvellous things?
I was walking past him being photographed for the newspapers.
