bembridgelifeboatalbstockBembridge RNLI were paged to launch late this afternoon (Thursday), but just minutes later was stood down after the casualty vessel they were paged to assist managed to restart its engine.

The volunteer crew were alerted at 16:10 by the National Maritime Operations Centre after an 18ft angling boat reported to HM Coastguard that they had lost all power and could not restart their engine approximately 1 nautical mile south of the Nab Tower.

Before the all weather lifeboat (ALB) Alfred Albert Williams could be launched, the rescue was cancelled after the crew of the fishing vessel reported that they had managed to restart the boat’s engine manually and were happy to make their own way back to Langstone Harbour.
