For a third term at the Isle of Wight Council, Ryde Appley and Elmfield councillor Michael Lilley must defeat Reform UK and the Conservatives.
The Liberal Democrat incumbent is up against Ross Caruana (Reform UK) and Abdul Mateen (Local Conservatives) at the approaching County Hall elections.
Photos and 100 word pitches were sought from candidates, either directly or via parties or groups, by the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS).

Ross Caruana
I am standing as the Reform UK candidate for Ryde Appley and Elmfield because I believe our town deserves a representative who truly understands the day-to-day lives of its residents.
Ryde has given me a home for nearly two decades, and now I want to give
something back. I am committed to making a real difference and ensuring that the voices of Appley and Elmfield are heard loud and clear.
Currently, I am working in retail, a role that keeps me connected to the hardworking rhythm of our town and the people who live here and keep it running.
Michael Lilley
I have been an Isle of Wight councillor since 2017. I live in the ward I serve with my wife, Julia, and our dog, Benson. I was mayor of Ryde from 2019-23.
I am passionate about human and environmental rights campaigning with residents to preserve local green space and stop sewage being discharged into the Solent.
I have successfully prevented both primary schools in the ward being closed, campaigned to get Appley Tower refurbished and reopened, and supported the establishment of Network Ryde Youth Service. My 2026 campaign is vote for a local man with a good track record.
