Bembridge RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat was launched at the request of Solent Coastguard to assist a yacht with a fouled prop during the early hours of this morning (Monday).
At just after 01:25 the Tamar-class lifeboat plunged into the darkness to assist the 38ft sailing yacht ‘X-Dream’ – with 3 Dutch crew on board – that had a fouled prop around 2 nautical miles north of the Bembridge Lifeboat Station.
The volunteer lifeboat crew quickly reached the X-Dream at around 01:35 and as the yacht had already cut the rope she had caught round her prop, she was simply taken under tow to Haslar Marina.
After putting X-Dream safely alongside a mooring at 02:45, the relief Bembridge Lifeboat ‘Frank and Anne Wilkinson’ returned to station and was recovered by 03:30.
