This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

• Callum Warren, 19, of Adelaide Grove, East Cowes, was disqualified from driving for 17 months and fined £320, with £85 costs and a £128 surcharge, for driving with controlled drugs Ketamine and Benzoylecgonine in his system on Orchard Street, Newport, on 18th May 2025.
• Mark Ellis, 38, of Oakley Road, Braintree, Essex, was made subject to a 12-week curfew with electronic monitoring for assault and criminal damage in Porchfield and Newport on 5th October 2025. He must remain at his home address from 18:00-06:00 each day. He was ordered to pay a total of £350 in compensation across the offences.
• Alexandru Moldoveanu, 27, of Saturn Close, Southampton, was given a 12-month community order with 150 hours of unpaid work for a string of fraud offences committed in March 2025. He posed as a delivery driver to obtain parcels from shops in Newport. He was ordered to pay £670 in compensation and a total of £199 in court costs and surcharge.
• Oliver Cooper, 22, of Whitcombe Road, Gatcombe, was given a community order with 100 hours of unpaid work after driving a Surron electric bike while disqualified and without insurance on Wellington Road, Newport, on 28th May 2025. His licence was endorsed with 6 penalty points. He also admitted possessing cannabis, which was ordered to be forfeited and destroyed.
• Paris Fleet, 27, of Lavender Way, Newport, was ordered to pay £140 in compensation for stealing bags, clothing, and confectionery from TK Maxx in Newport on 18th August 2025.
• Alex Cooper, 27, of Oaklyn Gardens, Shanklin, was ordered to pay £102 in compensation for stealing snacks and electronic toothbrushes from a Co-op store in Ryde on 16th August 2025.
• Aaron Thomas, 20, of North Fairlee Farm, Newport, received a community order with 80 hours of unpaid work, 15 rehabilitation activity days, and a 36-month driving ban for driving while disqualified, uninsured, and with a controlled drug in his system on Fairlee Road, Newport, on 16th March 2025. He was also fined and ordered to pay a total of £199 in costs and surcharge.
• Marcus Knight, 28, of Pennycress Drive, Newport, was fined £138 with £85 costs and a £55 surcharge after he was caught speeding at 88mph on the M3 near Winchester on 25th September 2024. His licence was endorsed with 3 penalty points.
• Rachel Hewitt, 42, of Angelica Grove, Newport, was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £26 surcharge for aiding another person to enter a property in breach of a court-imposed closure order on 24th September 2025.
• Gareth Furmidge, 46, of Glebe Court, Church Road, Wootton Bridge, received a 6-week suspended sentence for using threatening or abusive behaviour in Ryde on 24 June 2025. The sentence was suspended for 12 months and includes 12 rehabilitation days. He must also pay a £154 surcharge.
• Leanne Hart, 40, of Swanmore Road, Ryde, was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined £120, with £85 costs and a £48 surcharge, for driving with Benzoylecgonine in her system on the Esplanade, Ryde, on 24th June 2025.
• Billy Cokes, 33, of St David’s Road, East Cowes, received a community order with 150 hours of unpaid work, 15 rehabilitation activity days, and a 30-month driving disqualification for driving while disqualified and uninsured in Newport on 11th May 2025. He was also ordered to attend a 26-day programme and pay £85 in costs.
• Bradley Dyer, 25, of Oak Vale, Oakfield, Ryde, was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 surcharge for possessing cannabis in Ryde on 7th July 2025. The drug was ordered to be forfeited and destroyed.
