A power cut has hit homes and streets in and around Newport tonight (Sunday) as we enter into the early hours of a new working week.
60 postcode areas have been affected by the outage, which was logged at 23:18.
Engineers from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks are aware of the fault and aim to get the majority of homes back on the grid by approximately 02:30.
Surrounding street lights, traffic lights and other illuminated street furniture have also been affected by tonight’s fault.
A spokesperson for SSEN has said:
“We’re sorry for the loss of supply. We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed. Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can. Here we go again more load shedding this company sucks
Too many homes being built, overloading the supply, and many having ‘growing heat lamps’ adding to the load, and fire risk in lofts, garages, cellars and other diverse buildings.
Wait until Pennyfeathers is built. Ryde will resemble the black out in WW2 on cold Winter nights.
Whilst such large builds provide additional transformers, it ‘doesn’t’ supply more HV energy to feed those transformers.
