Royal Mail is now making its collections from Post Offices across the Isle of Wight an hour earlier than before to help with the onward delivery of mail and parcels to Southampton. Since Monday, the firm has brought forward its last collection time by 60 minutes. It’s said that this is to allow the Island’s mail to be moved across the Solent to the mail centre in Southampton. In Binstead, for example, the collection is now being made at 16:25 meaning the cut-off for the day’s post is 16:15. The adjustment is part of wider changes to the network to provide a better and more reliable service to customers, and part of a further investment in Royal Mail’s operation on the Isle of Wight. The investment has seen the creation of 16 new jobs, it’s claimed.

Re-read the article. This is nothing to do with deliveries, it’s the collection times from Post Offices which are changing.
I love this ‘ to provide a better and more reliable service’ Its for our benefit then. A bit like when you sit 18th in the phone queue and are told ‘your call is important to us’.
Total baloney, all of it. Be honest, its to SAVE THE COMPANY MONEY!
They should change the message to say “Your call is important to us. Please hold until it is no longer important to you.”.
Royal Mail continues to shoot itself in the foot. Why has transfer to the mainland suddenly got half an hour slower?
The more they change the service,the reduced deliveries,poor working conditions for staff and now more expensive to send a card than cost of card. Royal mail are forcing the demise and closure of it’s service. Stop paying high salaries to CEOs etc,recover from those who part of post office scandal etc. 5 yrs ago I sent 30+ Xmas cards, last year none and this year will be none due to stamp price – can afford but on principal.Just had delivery weighing over 80kg in 4 boxes from Newcastle,48hrs and £10.25 – not by Post office, they would want around £160, that’s more than items were worth.

Is not true as on the Pallance Road postbox there is a sticker saying that the final collection will be no earlier than 9am Monday to Friday and 7am on Saturdays. Currently there are collections there at 11am and 4pm.

I’ve just watched 4 episodes of postman pat and the service was so much better, no shorts, no tattoos, no odd socks, not once parked on double yellow lines, no scruffy posts personal and a proper reliable service!!!Every posting person on this that drives a van is an idiot as always parks illegally and can’t walk!!! as a business that spends plus of 100k a year on delivery’s I won’t spend a penny with the post office!!!
With all the problems going on with R.M they should look at the Isle of man service Or bring back all sorting done on Island as on years ago . Or even looking at the AMERICAN POSTAL SERVICE ANY Size Any weight” ONE PRICE” talk about a Rip Off service we get.
