L-R: Harry Lake, Harrison Knights and David Tarry (Junior Organiser)

The 16th and final event of the Westridge Junior Order of Merit for 2018 took place recently and with everything to play for on the last day of competition, it really was an exciting climax to a thrilling competition.

In contention to win the overall event were Harrison Knights, 15, reigning champion Bailey Hyde, 16, and 13-year-old Joel Tarry – but none of them managed to win on the day. 14-year-old Harry Lake took the honours with a fabulous net 61.

However, a solid second place by Knights (net 63) was enough to ensure he maintained his position at the top of the league table and duly won the annual trophy for the second time in 3 years.

He said afterwards:

“It was really tough knowing that I had it in my own hands and just had to keep it all together. I’m delighted to have won again, and have to thank not only all my coaches, but especially Daniel West, and of course my mum and grandparents who take me everywhere – I really couldn’t do it without them”.

It caps a fantastic year off not just for Knights, but for all the Juniors playing at Westridge and with more and more new players joining, they’re expecting even more success in 2019.
