Firefighters have this lunchtime (Friday) attended a small kitchen fire at Newclose Cricket Ground on the outskirts of Newport.
Two appliances from Newport Fire Station were called to ‘Inn on the Green’ at the cricket club in Shide just before midday following reports of a small fire breaking out in the kitchen area.
Witnesses have reported seeing some smoke rising from the building from a distance, however the fire has been successfully controlled and extinguished. The building had to be ventilated.
Significant damage has been sustained to the kitchen, however a spokesperson for the business confirmed there had thankfully been no injuries.
