Just a few months after being released from prison, a prolific local thief is to spend the next 8 weeks behind bars.
Daniel Kilshaw, 42, of Sunset Close in Freshwater, pleaded guilty to 2x counts of theft from a shop when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Friday (27th October).
On 19th October 2023, Kilshaw entered TK Maxx in Newport and stole 3 coats to the value of £300 pounds. Then, just 3 days later, on 22nd October Kilshaw entered Sports Direct and stole a Hugo Boss jumper and Armani T-shirt to the value of £220.
The court was told how these recent offences were committed so that Kilshaw could fund his drug habit.
Kilshaw has appeared on Island Echo numerous times before, most recently back in September 2022 when he was sentenced to 18 months in prison after stealing a car before crashing it into a wall in Ryde.
The 42-year-old has over 30 previous convictions and stole from TK Maxx before back in August 2022.
He was handed an 8-week prison sentence and ordered to pay compensation to Sports Direct and TK Maxx of £520.

The bottom of the hyperlinked article and it’s comments, prophetic.
I bet he hasn’t paid a penny in compensation either. Absolute waste of space!
Bring in the three strikes and your out loser. Sometimes it’s just not worth trying to help people any longer. What benefit is he to society…absolutely none.
The Island is home to some lovely people NOT!!
At least this time the judge could do maths 300+220= 520 well done shame it wasn’t the same judge that dealt with the kids that trashed that house
Prison doesn’t get to the root of the problem, he needs to go on a drugs rehabilitation programme. Too much time on his hands probably, a job working in the fields or involving manual labour with strict working hours might sort him out. 8 weeks in prison will do nothing for him.
This person is destined to have a miserable life. He does not understand how theft feels from a victims perspective. He doesn’t learn from past mistakes either. He’ll spend the rest of his life in and out of prison. No answers from me other than I’d isolate him under lock and key and force him to go through cold turkey. After that it’s up to him.
Sentenced to 18 months in jail last September, but here we are at the end of October the following year and he’s back in Court again already.
Isn’t it time we took scum like this out of society for a long length of time?
He’s a career criminal and needs locking up for years.
About time .. the amount of times this name has been on the echo and other places. Probably be back out soon and do it again.. give him real time behind bars
What a pathetic waste of oxygen
