The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance has been scrambled to Ryde this lunchtime (Monday) to transport a seriously ill patient to a mainland hospital.
The out of area air ambulance, from Redhill in Surrey, landed at Smallbrook Stadium on the southern outskirts of Ryde at 12:35, in response to a request from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
A paramedic crew have rendezvoused with the helicopter as it touched down on the centre green of the Speedway track at Ashey.
A patient is being transferred into the helicopter, to be flown directly to 5)3 Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham.
