Junior Isle of Wight golfers played 36 holes in testing conditions as they competed to be Junior Champion 2018 at Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club recently.

The morning showed a steady 71 for Jon Exon-Taylor, with Joe Green 5 behind on 76. The best nett and taking home the W ‘Bill’ Churchill Trophy was Campbell Laird with a 67.

The afternoon was close with another steady round of 70. The best afternoon Nett round and winning the Lyn Guy Trophy was Harvey Simpkins with a nett 67.

Jon Exon-Taylor won The Ken Guy Trophy for best gross of the day with 70. He also took the overall Junior Club Championship ‘The Jimmy Tarbuck’ with gross 141! Second with a gross 153 was Junior Captain Joe Green, with Nick Matthews coming third with 156.

The Keith Wickham trophy, for best 36 gross, was also won by Jon Exon-Taylor with a nett 137. Campbell Laird was close behind on 139 and Harvey Simpkins came in third on 141.
