Industrial action by junior doctors is underway across England from now until 07:00 on Monday (13th April), with NHS services across the Isle of Wight expected to be affected.
The strike forms part of national industrial action and will impact all Isle of Wight NHS Trust sites, although plans are in place to maintain safe patient care throughout the period.
The Trust has confirmed that its Emergency Department will remain open as normal for life-threatening emergencies. However, patients attending with less urgent conditions may be redirected to more appropriate services.
Those with pre-booked appointments during the industrial action are being advised to attend as planned unless they are contacted directly with alternative arrangements.
Residents are being encouraged to consider other healthcare options where appropriate. GP practices, Urgent Treatment Centres and community pharmacies will continue to operate as usual throughout the strike period.
Support is also available via NHS 111, either online or by phone, for advice on where to seek treatment. For non-urgent concerns involving children or pregnancy, the Healthier Together app can be used for guidance.
Self-care at home is also being recommended for minor conditions, with residents advised to ensure they have a well-stocked first aid kit.

I understand that their pay has not kept up with inflation over the past decade – but, unless you’re a water company or utilities boss, no one else’s has either. This is now pure greed and whereas I think that the NHS overall is fantastic with brilliant staff they need to call off their strike, go back to the negotiation table and accept a reasonable pay increase. If not perhaps we should, like we did during covid, go out onto our doorsteps at a designated time and boo for 2 minutes instead of the then we’ll deserved clapping!!
All staff in the medical profession, including doctors should have the same restriction as police – you cannot go on strike.
You are letting people down.
No one makes you go into a career that you do not want to do – so if the wages are not enough for you – go into something different.
The photo is worth a thousand words..
Yep,if they go on strike, they should be told where the nearest airport is
Why? A)you have no idea how many generations of each of their families have worked in this Country(unlike you &yours I suspect)dole walker and B)be bloody grateful without them idjeets like you who clutter up A/E wouldn’t get any treatment although a lobotomy could be arranged …,.
Well said, sadly you cannot teach numpties .
Another R acist R eformer, so sad.
Bless you, time to grow up, we are living in 2026
not 1966
Get with it.
just sums it all up..
they can always leave the country if they aren’t happy
What a beautiful picture. diversity at last on the
Isle of Wight
Long overdue.
That appears to be taken by a photographer from Norwich. I’ve not seen any pickets outside St Mary’s.
They look so happy to be on strike. Shows how much they care. What an incredibly selfish bunch, and a disgrace to what was once an honourable profession.
Sack the greedy B’stards and import Doctors from
overseas.
They have had more than their fair share of pay increases
recently, now they are getting greedy.
Being a Doctor or Nurse used to be a calling, nowadays the
majority of them are only doing it for the money.
Pensions and sick pay etc etc
Not to mention all the perks NHS employees get eg
10% off etc with various shops / businesses and reduced
ferry fares.
So,they come over to our country, then go on strike, and where is the white british doctor?
then again, the dillop that is enough is enough will be loving this at it shows diversity (unwanted) they will be wetting their y fronts!
The country would be lost without these professional people.
The majority of what you call white British doctors have
retired.
We live in the ‘me, me, me’ age now . These doctors care, first and foremost, for their own pockets.
Sadly the world is driven by money.
I watched the news tonight.
1 of the striking Dr’s said
The pay was not right.
After she finishing her training there is no job available for her.
then went straight into saying
That the NHS is in a state due to all the Dr’s that are leaving.
But if they are leaving so fast why is there no jobs available????
Photo speaks volumes…..
Care about bank balance.
Never met a pooor doctor.
I should think they are narked when much less intelligent train drivers on 3 day week earn loads more by holding the country ransom like council. It’s not what you know it’s how much you can disrupt society.
