Jule’s Ices ice cream van, known for its distinctive pink theme and delicious ice cream, will not be returning for the 2022 season as the proprietors have officially retired from pulling 99s.
For the past 10 years, Fred and Jules Turner have kept the Island refreshed with their array of wonderful ice creams – be that at special events such as weddings, the local car boot or on one of their many door-to-door rounds. Whether it was an after school or weekend treat (for us it was always Friday afternoon!), Jule’s Ices never failed to deliver.
Taking to social media this week, the couple have explained that due to a decline in Fred’s health, they have decided to hang up their cones and retire from the ice cream business.
Fred and Jules plan to enjoy more time together, creating a new chapter and new memories.
Jules has said:
“Over the last 10 years we have met the most amazing people and cannot believe how wonderful all our customers are, we truly from the bottom of our hearts cannot thank you all enough for your continued support throughout the years.
“We have so many beautiful memories of our time in the ice cream business and watching the little ones grow into young adults has been amazing especially when they still come and ask for ‘my usual’.
“We will hopefully see many of you across the island at some point when we are out enjoying ourselves, but watch out Fred’s getting a scooter so we might need to watch our ankles!”
The business has recently been up for sale for £99,000.
