IW Pride are holding a drop-in session at the Riverside Centre in Newport for anyone interested in becoming part of Team Pride in 2022.
IW Pride along with many organisations, that rely on volunteers to function, have found another impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is the decline in people coming forward to get involved.
To rekindle interest and welcome new volunteers, IW Pride are holding a drop-in session. Anyone interested in becoming part of Team Pride can come along and discover plans for 2022 and how to take part in July and the build-up during the coming months. Trustees and supporters since the start in 2017 will be on hand to answer questions and talk about opportunities.
Everyone is welcome, be it from within the LGBTQIA+ community to Allies. Whatever skills, help on the day, or lead up to the big event are all appreciated, from rattling a bucket to organising the event, performing to site decoration.
Laura Fraser, Trustee, said:
“Besides health and wellbeing, the last two years has changed many people’s lives, like their priorities in life and work life balance.
“The response to support each other during the last couple of years has been phenomenal with helping those in isolation and at vaccination centres. However, we are now seeing a major impact in people coming forward to volunteer.”
“Being part of Team Pride promises to be a rewarding experience for everyone and offers some amazing opportunities to get involved. Every offer of help counts, and IW Pride can help find a role to be part of an amazing event for the Island and many visitors.”
IW Pride, with its parade, community village, and activities, will be on Saturday 16th July 2022.
The drop-in session is Friday 25th February at the Riverside Centre in Newport from 12:30 to 18:30.
Anyone unable to drop-in on the day is invited to email [email protected] for further information.
I think I will pass on that one thanks.
