Chair of the Isle of Wight Green Party, Vix Lowthion, met with and offered her congratulations to the new co-leaders of the Green Party on the day their election was announced last week.
Carla Denyer and Adrian Ramsay will lead the party for the next 2 years, heading towards the next General Election.
Carla, 36, is a councillor in Bristol, proposed the first Climate Emergency motion in Europe, and previously worked as an engineer in the renewable energy industry.
Adrian, 40, was a leading councillor in Norwich and previously the Chief Executive at the Centre for Alternative Technology. They are, by some way, the youngest leaders of a mainstream national party in England and Wales.
On election, Carla Denyer said:
“It is progress that the other parties are starting to talk about climate change, but we’re not yet at the stage where they’re acting on it. And that’s the real difference we see – for example in council chambers. The approach of other parties still often tends to treat climate change as an add-on, rather than being a thread that runs through all policies.”
Vix Lowthion, who was also re-elected onto the Green Party national Executive committee for a second term as the Policy Development Co-ordinator last month, said:
“It was wonderful to be able to catch up and congratulate Carla and Adrian in person. They both have years of experience as elected Green politicians and are a determined, hardworking and formidable team. In particular, Adrian travelled to the Isle of Wight in 2019 to support our General Election campaign and he was really pleased to hear how our new Green Party councillors are doing at County Hall and all across the Island.

The Green Party conference will be held in person in Birmingham and online between 18-24th October 2021.

And like the other green party leaders will do nothing to stop developments on the island, mainly because they have no real clout to do anything much. I wish they could but they can’t it seems/
I once asked them why if they are meant to be green they are so in favour of so much house building, they said they have to be saying we need more ‘affordable’ homes or no one would vote for them. Well if any political party came out and said no more house building because we just do not have the space for more houses no matter how much breeding and immigration goes on, they would get my vote for sure.

If they do it must be on the mainland as you can’t get a dentist on the island….
But as long as they whine on about global warming, real life issues will just pass them by.

It does, but I look at the greenies and lefties and see how they mange to ignore it.
The greens are a small fringe party. Even Sinn Fein has more members in Parliament.

Good Lord! Talk about like attracts like! I bet they love each other, seeing as they are practically the spitting image of one another.
Considering no one posted a comment disputing their claims and could only resort to childish insults, I guess their message must be hitting home. The green party could be doing so much better but they are under the delusion we have a democracy. They need to start telling it how it is and put forward real policies that will bring real change. Like removing the influence the crown has on our politics. Remove the 800+ unelected lords. Give us a written constitution. And fix the voting system so we’re not continually ruled by a minority government.
