Parents and organisers of Saturday Club for Deaf Children are asking Islanders to nominate the charity to receive a £1,000 grant through the Movement for Good awards.
Saturday Club has approximately 36 Isle of Wight children registered who are all hard of hearing. The youngsters attend the West Wight-based club that provides activities, trips, experiences and outing that are focused on developing good social skills, improving communication abilities and increasing self-confidence and esteem.
The club’s officers, member and their families work hard throughout the year to generate funds to make the club successful. They regularly organise fundraising events but depend heavily on donations received from the public, companies and grant-making trusts.
Sadly, the club does not receive income from central or local government.
