The Isle of Wight Table Tennis League has started again after a busy summer of Island table tennis, with success at the Island Games, hosting a charity tournament with top English players taking part, and local players reaching the finals of the English Leagues National Tournament.
The main winter league has slightly fewer teams competing this season, but there is also a daytime and new doubles league running throughout the winter, so the opportunities to play competitive table tennis have never been higher!
Division 1
| Newport Vics A | 5 | Ryde Goshawks | 5 |
| Ryde C | 5 | Ryde Reprobates | 5 |
| Ryde Ravens | 4 | Ryde A | 6 |
| Ryde B | 5 | Shanklin A | 5 |
It was a week of close matches in Division 1, with 3 draws and a close win. Newport Vics A met Ryde Goshawks, with Newport’s John Cornforth in great form, taking all 3 of his matches, despite Ryde’s Ricky Lock and Keith Baker taking him to five sets. After some close singles matches, the doubles decided the result, with Ryde’s Lock and Baker winning in 4 sets against Cornforth and teammate Paul Freeborn, and the match ended in a draw.
Ryde B met Shanklin A in an equally close match, with Ryde’s player-of-the-match Alex Rorke winning all his matches in 3 straight sets. Shanklin put up a fight though, with Michael Bullpitt and Don Hobbs winning 2 each, and the match ended in a draw.
Division 2
| Ryde Lizards | 2 | Ryde Rockets | 8 |
| Newport Vics C | 8 | Havenstreet Hooters | 2 |
| Ryde Revellers | 4 | Ryde Rascals | 6 |

In Division 2, Ryde Revellers put up a good fight against League runners-up from last season, Ryde Rascals, mainly through Gourav Shah, who was player of the match. However, the Rascals took the match 6-4 after a close deciding doubles game.
Newport Vics C had an excellent result over the experienced Havenstreet Hooters, with newcomer Charlie Stapeley winning 2, along with teammate Paul Lewis, who also won 2. However, Newport’s Lawrence Fo was player-of-the-match, with 3 victories. Havenstreet’s Mike Prior stopped the party with 2 wins, and Newport ultimately took the match 8-2.
Division 3
| Shorwell Spinners | 3 | Newport Vics D | 7 |
| Ryde Rustics | 4 | Shorwell Saints | 6 |
| Ryde Retailers | 8 | Ryde Frogs | 2 |
In Division 3, Newport Vics D, relegated from Division 2 last season, took on the Division’s runners-up Shorwell Spinners. Player of the match was Newport’s Chris Gordine, who won 3, but Shorwell’s Robert Wendes playing style was too tricky for the other Newport players, and Wendes joined up with teammate Peter Burger to take the doubles, and the match ended 7-3 to Newport.
