Quay Arts, Newport hosted the launch party for this year’s Isle of Wight Open Studios programme last week (Wednesday 2nd April). with an official opening by High Sheriff Graham Biss BEM JP.
Examples of what can be seen and experienced are showcased in the West Gallery until Saturday 31st of May.
Open daily from 09:00 to 17:00 at Quay Arts the Isle of Wight Open Studios Showcase Exhibition features 143 items from 86 different artists.
Artists exhibiting include Timothy Harris from Isle of Wight Studio Glass and Brian Marriott’s Glass Art, Maria Ward’s distinctive and jolly scenes, Chris Gillies’ oil paintings of land and seascape, Pat Clarke’s colourful and imaginative paintings, plus Becky Samuelson’s fine art paintings.
Creative Island has enabled the showcase exhibition at Quay Arts with sponsorship from Roach Pittis, Cherry Godfrey and BCM Wilson Hill.
From Friday 16th May until Monday 26th May, 153 artists will either open their studios to the public or share a venue with other artists and invite people to join them.
These venues include Jubilee Stores on Newport Quay, Gurnard Village Hall, Medina Lodge Cowes and Freshwater Parish Hall.
Entry to all venues is free and most are open daily 11:00 to 16:00, but check the directory before a visit. Free directories are available at Quay Arts Newport, Dimbola in Freshwater, Ventnor Exchange and other sites Island-wide.
Money would be better spent, on providing help with peoples food and energy bills. Not some toffee nosed “so called” art. Never mind just mingle and say “Yah” a lot.
