A 33-year-old man has been charged with a drink-driving offence after a Renault Scenic left the road and ploughed through a hedgerow at Beaper Shute.
Police were called to the incident at 06:41 following reports that a vehicle had left the carriageway and come to rest in a hedge alongside the busy route between Ryde and Brading.
The grey Renault Scenic, which was travelling along the carriageway in a southerly direction, suffered significant damage to its frontend where the drivers side wing mirror has even been torn off.
Photographs from the scene show the vehicle lodged among trees and undergrowth, with branches surrounding the front and driver’s side of the car.
It is apparent that the travelled some distance into the vegetation before coming to a stop, with its rear end remaining visible from the roadside.
