Well-known Isle of Wight musician Doug Alldred has announced he will be standing for the Green Party in the forthcoming council elections on 6th May.
Doug is regularly seen sporting a bowler hat whilst playing with his band The Silver Lining at festivals and events across the Island.
Explaining why his attentions are turning politics, Doug has said:
“I’ve always had a keen interest in politics, studying it at A-Level before playing in bands, recording albums, and touring across Europe took over a large part of my life!
“Politics has always remained close to my heart, and gradually I’ve become convinced I’d like to throw my hat into the ring and try and make a difference to the place where I was born, grew up and still live. I believe we can make a better future for the Isle of Wight if we look forward with positivity, intelligence, and imagination.”
Doug is the Isle of Wight Green Party candidate for the new Brighstone, Calbourne & Shalfleet ward, which includes many West Wight villages including Brook, Hulverstone, Mottistone, Limerstone, Porchfield, Newtown and Newbridge. It largely replaces the defunct Central Wight ward.

So if he doesn’t get elected, he will be a lost chord.

You makes some good points, unfortunately you’ve allowed your bigotry destroy your message. Maybe just stick to reforms of building policy, empty properties, second homes and regeneration of brown field sites.

I was a strong green supporter. But then they pledged to ignore democracy and ignore the brexit vote.
