Allen Wood and his 5-year-old daughter, Eleanor, from St Lawrence, managed to rescue a ray which was trapped under rocks at Woody Bay last weekend (Saturday).
Allen’s wife, Hazel, says the ray would have remained trapped had her husband not of physically moved the rock, picked it up and placed it back in the open water.
Hazel says:
“They encountered a sting Ray that was stuck under one of the big boulders. A local family pointed it out to them and said they didn’t want to suffer so my husband willingly moved the rocks and picked up the stingray and placed it back in the ocean. My daughter even stroked it.”
“I am just very proud of them both as we know stingrays can be dangerous but we obviously wouldn’t want the sting Ray in any distress.”

Well done to them. BUT its not a sting Ray. Its a Painted Ray and would of not hurt you in anyway.
What would be the estimated size I know its a picture and dimensions are difficult but it’s an impressive fish.
I can’t see how big the rocks are but probably 7-8lbs in size which is an average size for a Painted Ray.
