In 1 of just 2 games played by Island cricket sides in the mainland leagues on Saturday, Shanklin & Godshill secured a comprehensive 8-wicket win against Langley Manor.
Shanklin ended their relegation worries with the victory against fellow candidates for the drop. After winning the toss and electing to field, the Island side skittled out Langley Manor for just 97 runs in the 40th over. Callum Wright was the pick of the bowlers for Shanklin, picking up 4 wickets at the cost of 20 runs. Harry Moore (3-19) took a treble of wickets. Ben White (1-10) and M Lambourne (1-26) grabbed a wicket apiece.
Shanklin took just 22 overs to surpass the modest Langley Manor total for the loss of 2 wickets, thanks to a 73-run partnership between M. Lambourne (31 not out) and Egerton-Reed (48 not out).

Shanklin’s win sees them finish in 13th place in Division 3 (South) with a points average of 12.92.
In Division 4 (South) Ryde 2nds thrashed Folland by 9 wickets.
After winning the toss and putting Folland into bat, Ryde skittled out the home side for 67 runs in 26 overs. 3 bowlers took a treble of wickets for the Island side. Kensei Parker nabbed 3 wickets for 4 runs off just 11 balls, Jerin Jose was even more economical with 3 wickets at the cost of 2 runs, and Mark Tuckwell’s treble came at the expense of 23 runs. Frank Gumley (1-14) also picked up a wicket for the Island side.
Ryde took just 10 overs to overcome the Folland total with Mark Oatley the only wicket to fall, stumped for 23 runs. Luke Jones top-scored with 39 runs.
