The Isle of Wight beat the prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) by 3 wickets with over 9 overs to spare on Monday (1st July). After losing the toss and being put in to bat, MCC reached a more than respectable 281 for 6 in their 50 overs, with opener Harry Anstee making 115 not out. Anstee was supported by Sam Martin-Jenkins, who hit a knock of 48 not out, and Jack Marston, who put on 59 before being caught lbw off the bowling of Drew. Ash Goldsmith (2-42)and Kevin Cooper (2-44) both took braces of wickets for the Isle of Wight with Daniel Cox (1-49) and Will Mew (1-76) taking a wicket apiece. The Isle of Wight scored at a rate of 7 runs an over to surpass the MCC total in the 40th over. Sam Mills top-scored with a stunning 94 off 70 balls before being caught by Beetham off the bowling of Anstee. Mills shared an 87-run partnership with Dan Cox (37), whilst openers Sam Guerin (60) and Mark Fletcher (42) combined to put on 105 for the first wicket.
