The Island’s first-ever Retrofit Fair has been hailed a resounding success after attracting strong interest from both residents and exhibitors.
Organised by local community interest company Future Isle of Wight CIC, the event took place at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway in Havenstreet and showcased a range of energy-saving measures – from insulation and solar panels to renewable heating systems – many of which can be fully funded through government grants.
Visitors were able to attend expert-led talks covering all aspects of home energy efficiency, while exhibitors from across the sector provided advice, demonstrations, and information on available funding.
Event organiser Vincent Wedlock-Ward MBE, Director of Future Isle of Wight CIC, said:
“The aim was to help residents understand how they can make their homes more energy efficient and what funding support is available. The feedback has been fantastic — people told us coming along to the event had made a real difference in understanding what their options are, how they can reduce their energy bills and get grant support. We had a large list of Island residents sign up to get free grant funding for solar panels, new heating, and insulation.”
