A local photographer has had their publicity photograph of Mermaid Gin shortlisted alongside 380 worldwide images for the British Photography Awards 2021.
Sienna Anderson was approached by Mermaid Gin to see if she would be interested in photographing their new gin bottle ahead of its launch last year.
The photographer set up a fish tank in the studio and used a divers oxygen tank fitted with a rubber tube pierced with tiny holes. The tube was submerged in the tank enabling Sienna to control the flow of the air using the valve to create the bubbles.
Last year Sienna was shortlisted in the British Photography Awards for the category ‘Birds in Flight’, making the final 6.
Sienna told Island Echo:
“Unfortunately, I didn’t win [last year’s award] but the experience was amazing. Never did I think I would be shortlisted again – it’s a worldwide competition so I am absolutely delighted with this. It’s now open to people’s choice for a few weeks and then I will find out if I have made it through to the next stage.
“Please vote for me in the people’s choice, my category is Commercial Product and is 1 of 20 – Thank you so much!”
