A freehold block of flats at St George’s Hall in George Street, Sandown, with vacant possession, fetched £298,000. The hall, which was previously a church hall and labour exchange, was converted into 4x 2-bedroom flats and had been let to a housing association. Guided at £85,000+, a freehold building at 11-13 High Street, Sandown, sold prior to auction. It was originally constructed as a branch of Barclays bank to serve Sandown, with the ground floor in more recent years providing offices for solicitors Jerome & Co. Vacant. Converted into a flat, the first floor has been sold on a long leasehold. A freehold town centre building at 95 High Street, Newport, covering more than 11,000sqft over 2 floors and with vacant possession, went for £326,000, with Gully Howard as joint auctioneers. Westfield Cottage, a 2-bedroom freehold residence in a semi-rural location at New Road, Porchfield, with vacant possession, was bought for £150,000. Joint auctioneers were Megan Baker. Commercial premises at 52, 52A & 52B High Street, Shanklin sold freehold for £70,000; 52B is let to a barber shop and interconnected 52 and 52A are vacant. Scotcher & Co were joint auctioneers. Freehold, with vacant possession, a 3-bedroom, semi-detached house at 50 High Street, Shanklin, with a courtyard garden to the side, was purchased for £148,000. Rob Marchant, Island auctioneer, said:
“Our milestone June auction delivered a number of sales for clients, with post-auction interest in properties still available, and we look forward to the July auction, our fifth auction of eight this year.”
