Island Line passengers are being warned of disruption this week, with trains finishing early for 3 consecutive evenings before the entire Isle of Wight railway shuts for engineering work on Sunday (20th September).
Engineering work will affect services from Today (Tuesday) through to Thursday, with trains finishing considerably earlier than normal.
The last train from Shanklin to Ryde Pier Head will depart at 20:10, while the final service from Ryde Pier Head will leave at 20:52 and travel only as far as Ryde St Johns Road.
Once train services have finished on each of the 3 evenings, a minibus service will operate between Ryde Pier Head and Ryde Esplanade.
A replacement bus service will also run between Ryde Esplanade and Shanklin.
The disruption will become more significant on Sunday, however, when the Island Line will be completely closed for the entire day because of maintenance work.
South Western Railway’s engineering works information confirms that shuttle buses will operate between Ryde Pier Head and Ryde Esplanade, with replacement buses running between Ryde Esplanade and Shanklin throughout the closure.
The closure means no Island Line trains will operate between Shanklin and Ryde on Sunday.
Passengers connecting with cross-Solent services at Ryde are being advised to factor the replacement transport into their journeys.
South Western Railway warns that engineering work can affect late-evening and early-morning journeys and advises passengers to check their train times before travelling.
Normal Island Line services are expected to resume on Monday morning following the closure.
