VIDEO: In May 2012 Island Echo went live for the very first time, testing the interest and affect 24 hour breaking news would have on the Island. The test was successful and after 6 months of behind-the-scenes work, Island Echo returned at the start of 2013 and, as they say, the rest is history.
The Island’s news source took off like a jumbo jet and has been flying high ever since with a peak of over 110,000 unique visitors and 1.3million page views a month.
Over the past 4 years Island news has changed – for the better – thanks to the work of Island Echo in delivering the latest news as it happens. The idea for a new local news source on the Isle of Wight was born out of the lack of evening, weekend and live reporting for Island residents at the time. Now, after 4 years of hard work, everyone has access to comprehensive photography, independent, in-depth and up-to-the-minute reports and of course the main staple of Island Echo, breaking news.

We would like to say a big thank you to all of our supporters, advertisers and readers over the past 4 years (and 8,200 stories!) and we hope you will continue to support us as we expand on bringing you all of the latest news and information as it happens from across the Isle of Wight, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Without you we wouldn’t have been able to make Island Echo as big as it is today.
As you can see from the graphic to the right, Island Echo is growing at an amazing rate and is set to continue on a positive trend line. In addition, despite being the newest local news source, Island Echo has one of the highest social followings and is the news source that everyone is talking about.
