The Isle of Wight Table Tennis Association held its Annual Presentation Evening at Ryde Castle Hotel on Friday (26th September), with Tom Johnson collecting the prestigious Island Echo Cup.
Local table tennis players gathered in the seafront venue as trophies were awarded across a packed programme of competitions from the 2024/25 season.
Johnson’s Island Echo Cup success was among the highlights recognised on the night, with the Havenstreet A player also celebrating Knowles Cup glory alongside teammates Mike Turner, Roger Hookey and Mike Bulpitt.
The evening saw achievements celebrated across all levels of the game. From under-11s to veterans, singles to doubles, the awards reflected the depth of talent and dedication within the Island’s table tennis community.
Among the standout performers were Ryan Cates, who claimed an impressive four trophies including the Men’s Singles, Junior title and doubles wins; Paul Rainford, who picked up three veteran and doubles titles; and Alex Rorke and Spike Hughes, who each left with multiple pieces of silverware.
The presentation evening was the perfect opportunity not only to reward winners but to celebrate the spirit of Isle of Wight table tennis, which continues to thrive thanks to the efforts of volunteers, players and supporters alike.
