A male and female in their 20s will stand trial in the Crown Court accused of the wilful neglect of a 2-year-old boy, which comes after the youngster was found to have bruising to his penis.
The pair, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday and denied the alleged neglect, entering not guilty pleas.
Liz Miller, prosecuting, said the victim had suffered a prolonged period of neglect at the hands of the couple between September 2021 and June 2022 – a 9-month period.
The accused have been granted conditional bail to appear before the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 26th June.
