Local author Mary Grand’s latest novel ‘The House Party’, set on the Isle of Wight, has been published worldwide by leading publisher Boldwood Books.
The novel is a psychological thriller and owes a lot to Mary’s love of a gripping mystery and whodunnit.
The House Party opens at an intimate house-warming party on the Isle of Wight. Kathleen confides in her best friend Beth that she is terrified of one of their close friends, but daren’t reveal who. The guests are a tight-knit group, but Kathleen is convinced one of them is dangerous. The next day Kathleen’s body is found at the foot of a cliff. Beth must face the sickening truth that Kathleen may have been killed by one of their trusted friends. With little help from the police, Beth’s decides to seek answers. All the friends have secrets they are desperate to hide, but only one of them is prepared to kill.
The novel features the fictitious village of Castleford, loosely based on Carisbrooke, and other areas of West Wight, including Freshwater and Tennyson Down.

The author, born and raised in Cardiff, has lived for over 25 years on the Island with her family. She worked as a nursery teacher and a specialist Teacher of the Deaf, including peripatetic work at a number of Island schools.
