Steve Mills returns as Isle of Wight 2 deliver a dominant weekend in Harlow, sweeping all four matches with style and authority.
Isle of Wight 2 produced a commanding display at the Senior British Club League in Harlow on 8–9th November. Steve Mills returned from injury to reclaim the number one spot, joining Paul Rainford, Ryan Cates and Joe Chapman in a full-strength squad.
Cates and Mills each won seven of their eight singles matches, Rainford added six victories, and Chapman contributed two crucial wins. In doubles, the formidable pairing of Cates and Rainford remained unbeaten, taking all four matches. Every player made a significant contribution to this impressive team performance.
The results leave Isle of Wight 2 third in Division C (7), behind Fusion 4 and Ellenborough 2, with promotion still within reach. January’s next round includes a key clash against top-of-the-table Fusion.
In Division 1…
Ryde A produced a commanding win over Ryde B, with Scott Lawson unbeaten and named player of the match. Ryde C trounced Ryde Goshawks in a superb display, while Havenstreet A narrowly overcame Ryde Revellers despite Steve Mills winning all his singles. Ryde C and Ryde A continue to lead the early title race.

In Division 2…

Havenstreet B and Ryde Rogues fought out a thrilling 5–5 draw. Paul White was named player of the match, though Peter Clarke impressed with a four-set victory. With Ryde leading 5–4, Havenstreet’s Carl Rye and Lawrence Voong delivered a decisive doubles win to level the match.
Shorwell Sinners overcame Ryde Resisters, despite Trevor Percival remaining unbeaten in singles, thanks to a gripping five-set doubles win. Newport Vics A secured a solid win against Ryde Retailers, while Ryde Rising Stars impressed with a convincing victory over Ryde Rovers, cadet Theo Lewis unbeaten and named player of the match.

Wroxall A strengthened their top spot with a dominant 9–1 win over Ryde Raiders. Wroxall C picked up their first draw of the season against Cowes Baptists, with thirteen-year-old Joshua Helyer winning all his singles and, alongside Aimee Waddell, taking the doubles.
Newport Vics C produced an impressive victory over Shorwell Saviours, although Martyn Walker remained unbeaten and earned player-of-the-match honours. Shorwell Saints secured a confident win over Ryde Oddballs.
