Police are looking for anyone with information after several vehicles were set on fire in Newport last night (Thursday) in what is believed to have been an arson attack. Officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were called to the scene on Little London near the HTP Apprenticeship College at around 23:55 yesterday evening. Reports had been made that a suspected arson attack had taken place. At the scene firefighters from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service used hose reel jets to extinguish 2 vehicles – a BMW bike and a Dodge Nitro – which were both well ablaze. A Suzuki Grand Vitara and a Land Rover Discovery also sustained damage. The charred remains of the Dodge have been left at the scene. A spokesperson from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has said:
“Anyone with information is asked to contact 101, quoting the reference number 44240133062”

We have had the same austerity party (Conservative) for the last 14 years. Before that, Labour funded local authorities properly, and rebuilt the major public services after Thatcher’s and Major’s (surprise, Conservative) neglect.
