The volunteer lifeboat crew of Bembridge RNLI launched into the darkness last night (Saturday), for the second time within just 20 hours.
The Alfred Albert Williams All Weather Lifeboat (ALB) launched at 22:13 at the request of Solent Coastguard to assist a 47ft wooden motor vessel with 2 crew on board that had broken down about 4 miles east of the Nab Tower.
‘Mayflower’ – the casualty vessel – was swiftly located at around 22:35 and having decided that it was not possible to effect a temporary repair she was towed to Haslar Marina in Gosport where she was berthed by 00:30.
Bembridge Lifeboat was rehoused by 01:00.
This latest incident marks a busy 48 hours for the crew, having assisted a 35ft yacht on Friday afternoon and a 30ft catamaran during the early hours of yesterday morning.
