The indoor bowlers of the Isle of Wight Community Club in Cowes completed their season with 3 days of club finals over the weekend of 21st-23rd March.
Events got underway on Friday with the triples. The game was close but Steve Crockett, Sue Pragnell and Peter Dent had the edge over Steve Lewis, Dave Gustar and Ray Byham, winning out by just four shots 17-13.
On Saturday morning, John Crews got off to good start against Jude Beaman and ran out a comfortable winner of the Men’s Singles 21-7.

In an enthralling Mens Plate Singles Final, Paul Allo overcame a 15-3 deficit to beat Paul Green 21-15.
The afternoon concluded with a thrilling Australian Pairs Final with John Crews and Martin Butchers only winning by 1 shot after an extra end 17-16 against Steve Crockett and Keith Gosden.
Sunday morning, kicked off with the Pairs and Mixed Pairs Finals.
In the pairs, Steve Lewis and Ray Byham started well against Max and Jude Beaman and managed to maintain a lead to run out winners 26 – 18.
The Mixed Pairs proved to be another tense game with John and Debbie Crews pulling out a victory 17-15 against Keith Gosden and Joyce Utteridge.
The afternoon served up the last 3 finals.
Experience saw Denise Butchers through a tight game against Gill Cameron in the Ladies Singles final achieving a 21-18 win.
In the Two Bowl final our youngest member Max Beaman, 16, put up a great fight against the experienced Martin Butchers eventually losing out 14-21.
The fours Final went all the way completing 21 closely contested ends with Bill Pike, Keith Gosden, Tony Lloyd and Bill Pike overcoming Mervyn Locker, Len Rowley, Phil Smith and Pat Barsdell 20-16.

Special achievements for the finals must go to Keith Gosden and John Crews, who succeeded in reaching 3 finals each. A special mention also to Max Beaman, 16, and his brother Jude Beaman,19, who reached 3 finals between them – A great achievement for only their second year of indoor bowling.
