UPDATED: Ryde Inshore Rescue have launched their main lifeboat to assist a vessel in distress off Ryde this afternoon (Good Friday).
Solent Coastguard requested the independent station to launch Ryde Rescue 1 at just before 13:25 following a Mayday call from a boat reporting to be taking on water.
It is the second shout in less than 24 hours for the Appley-based crew, who launched to a boat aground on Ryde Sands last night.
UPDATE @ 14:10 – The casualty vessel, with 3 persons on board, has been successfully rescued by neighbouring Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service.
Ryde Inshore Rescue have been stood down from the incident.
