With Storm Ciaran forecast to arrive in the Solent tonight (Wednesday,) cross-Solent operator Wightlink has cancelled 6 overnight salings on its Fishbourne-Portsmouth route. The 22:00, 23:59 and 03:00 departures from Portsmouth have been pulled alongside the 23:00, 01:00 and 04:00 sailings from Fishbourne. However, an additional Fastcat sailing at 04:15 from Portsmouth Harbour has been scheduled, as well as an additional sailing at 04:45 from Ryde Pier Head. Wightlink has apologised to all customers booked on those sailings and moved them to alternative crossings. All other services are expected to run normally. Keith Greenfield, Wightlink’s Chief Executive, says:
“The weather forecast predicts very high winds over the Solent later today so we have decided to cancel six sailings when the storm is expected to be at its height. Safety is always our first priority.”
