There are two main types: the American and European wheels.

The numbers appear to be in a random order, and the main difference between the two is that the American wheel has two green pockets – a zero and double zero, and the European wheel has one green single zero pocket.
This means that the house edge for the American wheel is higher (5.25%) than that of the European wheel (2.70%).
By knowing the difference, when picking which game of Roulette you’d like to play, you’ll be able to give yourself better winning chances when opting for the European version of the game. Or, if you want to up the ante, you can choose to play American Roulette.
Strategy or no strategy?
A debate that many professional players have strong opinions on is whether to use a strategy, such as the Martingale, when playing Roulette.
Many pros will tell you not to bother with a strategy, as you would need to have particularly good bankroll management and play for long periods of time in order to see a potential win.
Ultimately, though, it’s up to you if you wish to see if a strategy will boost your Roulette gameplay, but we recommend just knowing where’s best to place your bets.
Inside vs outside bets
Speaking of placing bets, knowing each of the bets you could place in Roulette, as well as the payouts these could offer you, is a great way to get you well on your way to playing like a pro.
The main bets are separated into two sections: inside and outside bets. Inside bets are the wagers placed on the inside numbers on the betting table, and – you guessed it – the outside bets are those placed on the outside segments.
Even money outside bets such as even/odd, high/low and red/black are the best bets to play in order to maximise your chances of winning. The payout might only be 1:1, but your winning chances are the highest in the entire game – just below 50%!
