Hovertravel has announced a further boost to its Summer timetable, introducing additional flights to meet growing customer demand following the recent early introduction of later evening services.
From this week, customers will notice very minor timetable adjustments during weekday and weekend afternoons, with some departures shifting by up to 15 minutes. These small changes are designed to improve operational efficiency while maintaining Hovertravel’s fast and reliable service.
Looking ahead to the peak Summer season, from 6th July to 31st August, Hovertravel will operate an additional 56 flights per week, giving passengers even greater flexibility to plan their journeys across the Solent.
With a crossing time of just 10 minutes, customers can continue to enjoy one of the quickest and most convenient ways to travel between Southsea and Ryde.
Loretta Lale, Head of Marketing at Hovertravel, has said:
“We are increasing the number of flights through the busy summer period to give our customers the opportunity to maximise their days out. Whether it’s a spontaneous trip or a carefully planned visit, these extra services provide greater flexibility and choice during our most popular time of year.”
Hovertravel also highlighted that its timetable remains dynamic, with additional flights able to be introduced in response to customer demand. Passengers are encouraged to make use of the interactive timetable available online for the most up-to-date service information.
Customers planning to travel this summer are advised to check the new timetable in advance to see if any of the changes alter their travel plans.

Great idea, but ai refuse to pay their extortionate prices
for a 10 minute crossing.
I could travel by train or coach from Birmingham to Portsmouth
cheaper than the Hovercraft
Scandalous
You’ve just told the world why it’s a premium service. Speed. 10 mins, or a train from Birmingham to Portsmouth I’m happy to pay more. And it’s competitively affordable when you use their blue card system.
Another Numpty
What I am trying to say is why does it cost £19.40
for a single by hovercraft that is 5.7 miles in distance.
When a train only costs £30.00 to travel 122 miles
Price per mile hovercraft is £3.40
Price per mile train is .245 pence
What a difference, in my eyes robbing b’stards
cheapest train from birmingham moor street to portsmouth is £30 for an adult however, most other prices range from £75 to £106.
Hover single advance fare for locals is £19.40 for an adult
get your facts right

Where can I find the website with schedule and prices for this service? I will be new to the Isle this summer.
Good luck with that, it ain’t the island it used to be.
