The Wightlink car ferry is suffering delays of 60 minutes this afternoon (Friday) due to an issue with the boarding ramp at the Gunwharf terminal in Portsmouth.
The cross-Solent operator is warning customers of hour-long delays on the Fishbourne to Portsmouth route.
Wightlink say they will keep passengers updated with progress and they apologise for any changes to your travel plans.
UPDATE @ 14:40 – Wightlink have said that their team have now resolved the issue with the boarding ramp at the Gunwharf terminal in Portsmouth and that sailings are now running again with delays of up to 60 minutes.

It’s great when you need to be somewhere for a certain time. For several years now I’ve not chanced relying on a ferry and go several hours before or if I have to night stop somewhere at even more expense.
Join WUG to bring this company to the front, charging exorbitant prices for an unreliable service.
Agreed, they ask you to be at ferry 30/45 mins before sailing – last week sat in qué around Portsmouth to IOW ferry – took 50mins and missed boarding, not so bad coming to IOW,but those trying to get airport, fFrench ferry or Eurostar etc.

How is this a news story. This is normal lack of service. Please Sh-telink provide a service to let the Island prosper, not just line the rich investors pockets! Rubbish overpriced service.
It’s a standard thing, wightlink, Friday, delays…
Joe standard for Wightlink any day you pay for the organised chaos experience.
Come on give them a break, they are going back and forth hourly and have to work to pretty tight deadlines…expect some mechanical issues every now and again…
It would help if both ferry companies undertook essential maintenance and servicing outside of peak season!
Simple. Build the Bridge. The Danish company that built Ryde harbour will have it done in no time…Stop moaning islanders..
